We went down to the lot today to take some pictures.  We left the apartment around noon and halfway to Gainesville it started pouring like crazy, torrential downpours.  We went into a few stores and we got a break in the weather so we went out to the lot to grab some pics while the rain held out.

Throughout the entire process of building Centex maintains a personal site that shows the progress of our house.  Yesterday the first step was completed.

I just talked to our sales lady and the footers are going in today.  I’m going to try to swing by after work to take some pics.

Construction begins on May 28th.

This past weekend we went back down to the property and looked in some houses that are closing at the end of this month and, lo and behold, one of them had our cabinets and stain. They chose the brushed nickel knobs but we are still going to go with some type of brushed nickel pull instead.

We still have yet to see any built homes that have the same kitchen tile or granite counter, which is nice, but in the 6 houses we looked in 5 of them had our bathroom faucets.  They are only a 1 level upgrade so I guess it’s pretty popular.

Here are the appliances that we picked out for our kitchen. We upgraded the refrigerator and the stove, the dishwasher and microhood were perfectly fine. We saved over $1200 by going with black-on-black instead of stainless steel, and to be honest I feel that SS is getting really played out and it can be a real pain to keep clean.

I just got an email from our saleswoman and she sold the last unit needed to begin construction.  They should be breaking ground in 2/3 weeks.  The permits have already been approved and they just have to pick them up from the county.

Here we go!

We heard from the sales woman at our property and tonight she sold another unit in our building.  That leaves only one more before they start and she has another appointment tomorrow so, fingers crossed.
